What skills are needed for being a good photographer?
Although refining skills like photoshop and using a camera or darkroom. are important In photography, I believe that there is not one particular set of skills that need to be learned to be considered a successful photographer.instead you should focus on mediums that interest you the most and make sure that you know enough to achieve you ideal of photography. For example if you want to mostly work in the darkroom you should practice work in the dark room.
What are the similarities and differences between photography and other visual arts?
Similarities: Some of the similarities between photography and other visual arts include the fact that both mediums are a creative process which show both the personality and personal feelings of the artist or photographer. Differences: The main difference between the fore-mentioned mediums is that photography's mainly about capturing things that already exist within the world whereas other visual arts tend to be about creating something completely new.
Can photographic images be trusted?
In modern day, due to things like photoshop and heavy editing, especially in modelling, it is hard to distinguish between what if real and what is fake. even with war photography and photojournalism, we are seeing the world the way that the photographer wants us to see it. often times this is good as we can look at the world is a raw and different perspective however this could also mean that certain things are hidden from us or changed.
how does photography help us see the world?
Photography allows you to view the world, or things within it, in ways you wouldn't usually see. For example, thanks to documentary photography and photojournalism in newspapers and magazines we are able to see the far corners of the world we would otherwise only dream of seeing. we can also see more disturbing images like war-photography with can often be haunting to see. Thanks to the ever-growing online photography platforms we are able to quickly view photos of anything with would like. Due to these we are able to see, through the eyes of the photographer and the camera, a whole new perspective of the world.
when is it not okay to take a photograph?
Although photography is an expressive, free art form which should, in my opinion, continue on without many strict rules, there are certain things that should be avoided in an ethical sense. For example, a photo that seriously invades the privacy of another person without their knowledge or permission (excluding portraits or unknowing subjects) or if the subject or photographer are being put in danger by taking the photograph.
Are photographers also artists?
I believe that photography is an art form and therefore photographers are artists. both photographers and artists use their medium to either display an emotion, feeling or message. the only difference is in the way they capture it.
How do you know if you've taken a good photograph?
i believe that the idea of a 'good photograph is completely different according to who you ask. one psons idea of a great photo may be completely different to someone else. therefore, i personally believe that you will know if you have taken a good photograph when it makes you feel an emotion or shows what you wanted to portray.
Where is the best place too see photography.
With digital photography and online platforms like instagram becoming more prevolent in modern day it is very easy to view photographs easily at the click of a button. some people may argue that seeing photographs and art in gallarys and exebitions make it more persona;l and real.
what kind of photography interests you the most?
i am mostly interested in digital photography as that is what i am most practised in however i am excited to learn about photography without a camera as i also enjoy those photographs.
What confuses or frustrates you about photography?
Although not a lot angers me with photography as i believe it is a very free and expressive medium, i do get frustrated at the fact that photography, like other visual arts, is relative meaning that one person may not view that same piece with the same perspective as the photographer and therefore not appreciate it fully.
